Ebony is on page 38 of 100 Ornamental Alphabets by Dan X. Solo and also on page 43 of The Solotype Catalog of 4,147 Display Typefaces.
Ebony was designed by William F. Capitain and patented on May 6, 1890.

This is the first known digitization of "Ebony", as seen in the Solotype
catalog, page 43.
Claude did the digitization of the basic alphabet, numbers, and punctuation.
Character added accented characters, additional punctuation, spacing, kerning,
and other miscellany.
Enjoy!

DAMMIT! I was sure I'd fixed that when I created the perthou glyph.
Here's version 1.2, with corrected percent.

Thank you.
I love your rendition of Ebony. 1890 lives again!
For readers unfamiliar with the provenance of the font, I enclose a
copy of the patent for ready reference.

Oh my! And Thank you! I asked claude what the source of his images was, but he
never replied. I wish I'd had this earlier - clearly the 'R', question mark,
exclamation point, and comma don't match. The patent page also has a couple of
nice ligatures (Th and Co). I'd also have put the original attribution into the
designer information in the font.
Is it too early for a Version 2.0?

It looks like you've already done most of the work. I'll be glad to adjust the
spacing and add kerning. I'm also working on Driftwood (Solocat p.67), Stamps
(p.66), and Rustic (p. 67). I'll probably post them at the same time as the next
version of the Solopedia.
Quelle est le provenance de l'image Ebony?
