HFF Light Petals is based on Pastel from page 90 of Brushstroke and Free-Style Alphabets: 100 Complete Fonts by Dan X. Solo and also on page 92 of The Solotype Catalog of 4,147 Display Typefaces as Pastel Bounce. The Pastel listed in the Solotype Catalog is an entirely different typeface.
According to Bill, Pastel was originally a Filmotype font (circa 1950s) and that the entire Filmotype library is currently being digitized by Font Diner.

Yes the font was auto-kerned. I already had a bad experience with auto
kerning. I should have checked.
